SO I WAS HURT...

SO I WAS HURT…

“There’s a hole in my bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There’s a hole in…”
Oh, there you are… Good…morning? Wait, lemme check… Ok. It’s morning here. Still. I don’t know what time it is where you are, so Good…whatever it is where you are.
  Smile, it’s…Wednesday?
So, I don’t usually post things this close together. I usually let my posts marinate before I get to write it, but…
There’s always a ‘but’. Always. What would life have been like without ‘but’? You were hungry, BUT you ate so you are full. We were destined to die, BUT Jesus died to give us life eternal. I was going to write this BUT…
Okay, no ‘buts’ with that one.
So, why am I writing this? Why now?
Well…let’s just say that something happened somewhere, and as a result, another thing happened elsewhere. Let’s leave it at that. Take it, or take it. What, you thought I was going to suggest that you leave it? Pfft! Nah…
So as I was saying, after the elsewhere happening, I got to thinking about a post I saw about anger, and Paul’s admonishment in Ephesians 4:26. Which got me thinking: how does God deal with anger? Because if there is one thing I know about God, it is that He never tells us to do what He has not already done. So, I asked my trusty Knowledge bank, the Holy Spirit (seriously, He is awesome; know Him) what He did. And it amazed me.
  Seriously.
Now, people will wonder if God is ever angry at us. Well, the Bible says in Psalm 103:8 that God is ‘slow to anger, but abounding in love’. Anger against who? Us. There are accounts of God being angry against us in the Bible. And what followed…well, let’s just say that you wouldn’t God to turn His face away from you in anger. No, sir. Or ma’am.
Like everything else, God actually took care of dealing with anger on the Cross.
You (maybe not): How? Just how did He do that?
Me: Relax. Here, sip some Fanta. You don’t like it? Coke? Okay.
Upon His Resurrection from death and His Ascension, Jesus Christ was made to sit at the right hand of God, for our sakes, as our ever-present Advocate. He advocates for us when we fall, when we need Grace, when we need strength etc.
Jesus Christ advocates for us when God is angry with us. We are human, and sometimes in our quest to live the God-life that we are called to, we fall. We sin. God hates sin, and even though he loves us all, the law states that the consequences of sin is death. Sin has a consequence. Jesus talks to God on our behalf, telling Him “Father, no, you can’t do that. You sent me to die for them. Here, look at the holes the nails made in my palm. You told me to give my life for them for any and every sin they may have or will commit. So please, don’t get angry.”
So you may argue But He is God! He can do all things!
Oh yes. But then, Genesis 1:26 : Then God said “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…”
Genesis 1:27: So God created man in His own image…
Also, Philippians 4:13 : I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Okay…But…But do you know what he did to me? Do you know what I had to go through? What I had to endure? I suffered! She hurt me! He broke not just my heart, but my leg too!
And…that’s the thing with anger: it has a self-justifying power. It seeks to magnify itself in your mind. Always about ME. So, leave it. Besides, what about the one we did to God?
Now, am I saying we can’t feel anger? No. We are human. Even God gets angry. The thing is that, God has recognized the fact that we can get angry; He made us, so He knows us better than we know ourselves. He is just saying, “Do not sin in your anger, and don’t let the sun go down on your anger.” Ephesians 4:26.
  So, what to do?
Do what God did. Make excuses for anyone who hurts you. Forgive, even when it is hard, or when you feel that it is you who should be apologized to. Forgive. Don’t focus on what was done to you; focus on what God did for us, and how He did it. He has given us the template; apply it.
God bless you. God bless me. God bless us all…

…What? Oh, the music? Haha! You know I got you. Let’s go with something different today. Even though I love Rock and Heavy Metal, let’s go with some Hip Hop for Christ. Yeah. Listen to Derek Minor, Dee-1 and Lecrae talk to you, Mr Christian… :Derek Minor ft Dee-1 and Lecrae: Dear Mr Christian
